Chelsea Boots, Melty Vegan Cheese, & Crabs That Feel

1. What’s simple, classic, and not allowed to be worn with baggy pants? Check out this 100% synthetic Chelsea Boot from TOPMAN.  Hot, and only $100! Next, if your metal-head babysitter from 1985′s wardrobe got turned into an amazing, urban, hi-top – these gold ‘n black faux-snakeskin foot-prizes would be it. Dang! Only $70 at TOPMAN.

2. Dr Cow Cashew-Bazil Nut & Macadamia vegan cheeses now available online! They are not cheap, but they are insanely yummy.

3. Speaking of cheese – I got to try the very-talked-about, soy-free, melty-as-hell Daiya cheese while mingling at a star-studded PCRM event last week. Yum! Not sure when it’ll hit stores, but it was stretchy and delicious when heated.

4. Has anyone tried the  So Delicious Coconut Milk Beverage? I saw it on the shelves in Whole Foods,  but I haven’t tried it yet and want to know: how does it taste? Can you steam it or foam it? Does it curdle in tea? Tell me!So Delicious Coconut Milk Beverage

5. Once again, the Canadian Seal Hunt is leaving a trail of blood. Please watch the video and click HERE to help.

6. A new study has found that crabs feel and remember pain. So that’s what a brain and nervous system do? It seems silly to even have to point this out, but unless scientists shock living things, the public thinks that brains and nervous systems are just for fun. As if you neeed one more reason to boycott Red Lobster? Duh, what’s trawling?

No thanks for the memories: The scientific study applied mild electric shocks to hermit crabs to determine if they could 'feel' pain.

I’m fascinated by all the differing opinions about So Delicious Coconut Milk! “It’s too thin,” “it’s too thick…” LOL! It makes me think that people have vastly different expectations. I was expecting something tasty that could replace soy milk, and to my utter delight, I found the Original and Vanilla flavors yummalicious! (Not to thin, not too thick, but just right!) I’ve tried them in coffee and tea, and I’ve also baked with them. They add just a slight hint of coconut flavor, which I like a lot. While I cannot seem to get them to froth, they do heat well and don’t curdle like soy milk. And I also like the new So Delicious Coconut Milk Creamers. Thye’re richer, and you only need about a tablespoon to lighten your coffee or tea. :)

I tried the So Delicious Coconut Milk Unsweetened and it was BLECH! not very good. The problem was it was a little too thick, which I wouldn’t have minded if it werent’ for the absolutely PLAIN taste. I LOVE plain soy milk but this was a different kind of plain. A REALLY plain, plain lol. I am SO glad Whole Foods will take products back accompanied by a receipt. I think I will try the Original flavor that has 6 grams of sugar. It might be better….hopefully.

I LOVE the So Delicious coconut ice cream, but did not love the milk. It was really thin, sweet and fatty tasting in my coffee, its fine for a little sweet treat, but its no soymilk. My BF loved it, but he also loves putting chocolate chips and very vanilla soymilk in his peanut butter Puffins if you get my drift.

I tried the vanilla flavored coconut milk. it’s pretty decent. I would buy it again.

I think I need those shoes, but more importantly, I think our society needs to rethink it’s definition of “luxury” and “fabulous.” Why must these terms, when applied to dining and fashion, always equal suffering? Why must an exquisite shoe or a delicious meal that didn’t include suffering in its backstory automatically be considered “less than”, inferior, or a part of some sort of counter-culture? Just something that furustrates the hell out of me. Meanwhile, I like the SO Delicious ice creams, so I’ll have to give their Coconut Milk a try.

Never mind. I was on the UK site. The UK site doesn’t seem to distinguish between leather and synthetic while the US does.
Sorry, should have said great post! Waiting for your next one!

Are all Topman products vegan? If not how do you tell which ones are? They all say 100% leather in their descriptions on the website.

I also got to try that Daiya cheese. I couldn’t believe how melty it was, or how good it tasted (and I am not a vegan who laments the absence of dairy cheese). People are gonna love it for sure. Especially those, like myself, who find Teese absolutely vile (yuck, yuck yuck!).

The Soy Delicious Coconut is not good. It tastes like sweet water, not coconut milk. Doesn’t froth at all. I was sad.
