Wash Room Updates

When I gave up using mainstream razors (because of animal testing) I was a bit disappointed with the alternatives – but it looks like Preserve has finally unleashed a triple-razor that is just as good as any Gillette or Schick. They are BPA-free, recycled, made in the USA, and not tested on animals! Only $8.49, and the replacement razors are 4 for $8.49.

Give your skin problems a kick in face with Aguacate & Co‘s line of vegan, organic grooming products from cleansers and exfoliators to toners, moisturizers, eye cremes, and recovery serums! Plus, their masculine and bold design will impress anyone who decides to snoop in your medicine cabinet, but why not just leave them out on display?

I love Preserve’s mission and would definitely buy them over the cruel brands, even though I found them to give a bit less close of a shave. What I have come to love even more though are safety razors. The blade refills are so cheap and there’s less waste since you’re only throwing away a little piece of metal every once in a while. It’s also fun to lather up with a shaving brush and they last forever. Muhle makes beautiful razors and vegan shaving brushes, and you can get a vegan brush head put on any of their bases to create your own coordinated set (http://www.muehle-shaving.com/shop/shaving_brushes/classic/1/vegan_shaving_brush/3/11/33_K_257), but there are also much cheaper brands out there.

I am new to all this. In what way are razors tested on animals? And are these Preserve items available in Europe?

    Honey is not vegan…..ever!

No one said it was or is. Only 1 out of their 9 products contains honey and is not vegan. It is not labeled as being vegan on their site. All the rest are.

Thank you Joshua! I don’t need to use razors tested on animals – great subject.

Preserve is great! I use a Preserve razor and toothbrush. Even better, when you’re done with them, you just mail them back, and they’re recycled.

Razors are tested on animals? Geez, you learn something new (and depressing) every day. Thanks for sharing an alternative.

Aguacate & Co. state that they are 100% vegan, but they list honey as an ingredient in their facial cleanser. Are they able to claim to be 100% vegan, if honey is considered (to some) an animal byproduct? Just wanted to know your thoughts on this.

It appears that the facial cleansing gel is the only non-vegan product. Everything else on the site has a “vegan” label aside from that one. Just use the cleansing creme instead.
