Eating Animals by

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Like many young Americans, Jonathan Safran Foer spent much of his teenage and college years oscillating between enthusiastic carnivore and occasional vegetarian. As he became a husband, and then a father, the moral dimensions of eating became increasingly important to him. Faced with the prospect of being unable to explain why we eat some animals and not others, Foer set out to explore the origins of many eating traditions and the fictions involved with creating them

Heard Jonathan speak, which was a treat, and gave away
    my copy already. Now
my Mom suddenly (after being defensive forever) heard a talk
and called me up paraphrasing from it.
All I could do was say yay when she then told me she is visiting
and ordered the kosher vegan meal on the plane. Guess it’s
never too late to wake up:) Thanks!!

I would love a copy of this book! I borrowed it from the library on their express 7-day loan because it’s so popular, but I’m working full time right and couldn’t finish it on time.

Shameless token of sentiment here for your blog too – love how stylish it is, and yet still you remain true to your values. You inspire me!

I’ve been on a waiting list at my local library to borrow this book for over 6 months! I’m still reading The Omnivore’s Dilemma but can’t wait to pick up this one. I really need some fuel and “food for thought” regarding human beings’ complicated relationship with animals…and I need some arguments to help convince my husband we need to eat meat a lot less often than he wants to! (We have 2-3 days per week where I cook meatless meals, but he usually gets antsy after those days and wants meat soon afterwards.) I was hoping we could share this book and learn a little more about the ethical issues behind eating animals. (Though it may just end up as a personal crusade for me and something hubby just writes off as his nagging wife’s thing…;-)
Thank you so much for the giveaway!
