Another UFC Welterweight Eats His Veggies

by contributor, Pierre Grzybowski

Something about fighting at welterweight seems to make you eat more plant-based foods. James “Lightning” Wilks, British subject and winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 9: Team US vs. UK, now joins fellow 170-pounders Jake Shields, Nick and Nate Diaz, and John Fitch in eating meals that would probably make Alistair Overeem weep.

With the media storm leading up to Jake Shields’ stab at the UFC title, much of it mentioning the challenger’s vegetarian-since-birth diet, it’s no wonder that Wilks would give Shields a call to talk food.

Now Wilks’ Twitter followers get updates on where to get a good vegan lunch (Bright Star) and how many grams of protein are in his wife’s vegan burgers (33).

And for those who want to train the fighting arts, he runs a gym in Orange County California.

Did we mention he’s also a model?
