The Expert: NOVACAS for Brave GentleMan

My collaboration with NOVACS has hit a patch of warm weather. Coming soon, The Expert is a handsome, two-tone-tan saddle shoe made in Portugal under fair labor conditions in fine Italian microfiber. As part of the ongoing collaboration: NOVACAS for Brave GentleMan, this is the exclusive Summer 2012 shoe. It’s a classic men’s style that you can dress up with your seersucker suit, or get down with no socks at a summer barbecue. In any scenario, you’ll look like you know exactly what you’re doing in the Expert.

These limited edition summer shoes are durable, water-resistant, they break-in wonderfully, they are suitable for vegans, and the uppers are made with a biodegradable PU microfiber which rivals leather like no other. Handsome inside and out! These will be available are various locations and can be pre-ordered online at BraveGentleMan.com

Awesome! I hope this finally means you’re going to move away from that really thin weak PU leather Novacas normally uses. Your shoes are gorgeous but I haven’t been able to convince myself to buy a pair when the microfibre leathers Vegetarian-Shoes uses seems so much more durable.

I’ve tried on a few pairs (Brave GentleMan and the main Novacas line) at Mooshoes, but the materials Novacas are made from just never felt solid. I’d love to see these in person before I pre-ordered.

Also, great work so far, I’m not criticizing to disparage Brave GentleMan. I hope the brand continues to grow and give other vegan shoe brands a standard to meet!

All of the PU leather we use is construction-grade. It is very thick and durable, breaks in like leather, breathes, and because it is a microfiber as opposed to a coating, it even wears away like leather with a suede-like effect underneath. The first season of NOVACAS for BraveGentleMan was also incredibly sturdy.

I can’t agree with you more. I was seriously bummed when I bought Novacas Milo boot. The leather was so thin and of poor quality that it tore and degraded within a matter of weeks not to mention they are pathetic in rain. True, Novacas has unrivaled aesthetics and design for vegan shoes. I love them for that. Their durability could use some work though.
