Something I hear time and time again is that you guys have a lot of trouble finding a truly warm winter coat that does not compromise on style. That’s why I am leaking some very top-secret images from the unreleased menswear collection from the exalted Vaute Couture! I had the honor of being the fit model for some of these incredible coats. Not unlike the women’s collection (favored by vegan celebs from Ginnifer Goodwin to Emily Deschanel), these wool-free coats are being developed for functionality, warmth, comfort and sustainability in cruelty-free, recycled and recyclable fabrics with features like vintage, deadstock or Tagua Nut buttons. But the best part of all? The designs are meticulous, fitted, and classically handsome. I wish I could share more, but as you can see below, there’s still pins in the sample! So fear not, prayers do get answered.

Also, you’ll probably want to have these clever, organic tees from Vaute Couture, only 26$.

So you’ve decided to ditch the down. And it’s not surprising, considering how horribly the animals used for their feathers and down are treated. Read our pal Ari’s article on Huffington Post about the TRUTH concerning down. Here’s some cozy, insulated, cruelty-free, recycled-poly coats suitable for an arctic winter.
Recycled Poly Synthetic PrimaLoft®-insulated coats from Patagonia.

Organic cotton & recycled poly-fleece insulated canvas hooded coat, recycled poly-fleece slope-style hoodie, and for you arctic explorers, the Men’s recycled-poly Ice Field Jacket, from Patagonia.

Nau’s cozy recycled poly insulated trench, and high-pile recycled poly insulated hoodie.

Jack Frost would have bit my big Jew-nose really hard this morning had I not had a cozy winter coat. It’s not so easy to find really warm, well-built winter coats that aren’t filled with feathers, lined with leather, made of wool, or trimmed with fur. My first recommendation is to check out your local thrift store. My second recommendation are this organic, fair-trade, and vegan coat:
If those don’t work out, here are some awesome, animal-friendly coats to keep the chill out! I have these broken into three categories: Money to Burn, Big Spender, & Average Joe.
MONEY TO BURN

BIG SPENDER
AVERAGE JOE

And lastly, don’t forget to stand around on the porch in your organic thermal undies!
